Who was Maharaj-ji?

Neem Karoli Baba, also known as Neeb Karori Baba and affectionately called Maharaj-ji by devotees, was an Indian Hindu saint whose life became closely associated with devotion, service, remembrance of God and Hanuman.

Much of what is remembered about Maharaj-ji survives through the experiences and recollections of people who met him — householders, villagers, seekers, officials, saints and visitors from India and abroad.

Rather than leaving behind an elaborate philosophical system, Maharaj-ji’s remembered teachings were strikingly simple: love, service, truth, remembrance and recognition of the unity underlying life.
